ABOUT OIC HEALTH PORTAL
The OIC Health Portal acts as the main information sharing platform for the OIC efforts in the health area among health ministries of OIC Member States and other regional and international partners. The portal serves as a reliable source of information about the activities, projects and programs implemented by the relevant agencies in OIC region, as well as a library for all reports and publications related to health.
The OIC Health Portal was developed in realisation of the OIC Health Communication and Publicizing Strategy that was endorsed by the 5th Islamic Conference of Health Ministers, held on 17-19 November 2015 in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey, within the framework of the OIC Strategic Health Programme of Action 2014-2023 (OIC-SHPA).
The content management of the portal is based on a federated ownership-style to reach the intended communication goals and to maintain a high standard. For that reason, the ownership and maintenance of the content are distributed among the stakeholders, including ministries of health, OIC institutions, international partners, and health NGOs.
The specific objectives of the portal are as follows:
- Raise awareness among partners and the general public about the contribution of the OIC to the improvement of the situation of health in OIC countries.
- Act as the main information sharing platform by bringing in one place the efforts of OIC Member Countries in the domain of health.
- Provide all the data regarding the domain of health for all OIC countries, providing them directly from the OIC Stat Database.
- Publicize regularly the developments regarding the programmes and projects that are implemented by OIC countries, as well as networks of cooperation in the domain of health.
